AIDS/HIV facts


1.HIV continues to spread at a high rate on the continent—especially among women—and AIDS continues to devastate families there, leaving children without parents and passing from mothers to their newborn infants.

2. Immunization is doubly challenging in Africa. The lack of infrastructure—electricity, ready transportation—in remote areas stretches the cold chain system used to transport temperature-sensitive vaccines to its limit.


3. Women lack the power to negotiate the use of contraceptives that can protect them against unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, including HIV.

Women in africa have AIDS to!


More action needed against high female. Because of their reproductive systems, women's bodies are more susceptible to infection by the human immunodeficiency virus than are men's bodies. How many Children/ Orphans live with AIDS/HIV?


There are about 1 million children under 15 with aids in sub-Saharan Africa. There are 13.2 million orphans who live in sub-Saharan Africa. In general, HIV/AIDS prevalence data in Togo is incomplete but according to UNAIDS roughly 110,000 people in Togo are infected. Togo is home to more than 88,000 AIDS orphans and vulnerable children. 110,000 individuals already living with HIV/AIDS have largely been neglected and abandoned.
